Marine Ecology Group

A creative and collaborative lab group.

The Marine Ecology Group (MEG) is a diverse research group led by Jane Williamson at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. The focus of MEG is diverse and pivots around the biodiversity and functioning of aquatic communities, with a particular interest in species at threat from human actions.

Our Research

Much of the current research in MEG is targeted towards optimising recreational and commercial fishing practices to maximise sustainability of predators such as marlin, teleosts and elasmobranchs.

Other projects focus on systematics and biodiversity of species, from flatworms to sharks, with the objective of maintaining resilience in tropical and temperate marine systems.

Our People

The MEG lab has a diverse group of PhDs and Masters students. We regularly have interns and volunteers join us, and have a range of collaborations with researchers from around Australia and the world
