Steph Bagala

Steph is a current PhD student (co-supervised by Prof. Jane Williamson and Prof. Melanie Bishop) looking at the effects of time and tide on fish community movements between intertidal and subtidal habitats. She is an avid remote underwater video (RUV) user, and has many hours of fish ID and counting under her belt, having used similar methods in her Masters of Research degree to quantify fish response to the installation of Living Seawalls panels in Sydney Harbour. She is a keen field scientist, getting out on the water as often as she can.

Stephanie has a broad background in marine research, having volunteered on many projects with the marine labs at Macquarie during her Bachelor of Marine Science degree. This includes studies on oyster reef restoration, Port Jackson shark physiology and behaviour, fish behaviour and many outreach events encouraging enthusiasm in school students and the general public for the natural world.
